God's Eternal Purpose in the New Covenant - Part 1

Luke 21:29-33 NKJV

29 Then He spoke to them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Here in this parable, we have Scriptural proof for the United Nations and the birth of the secular Zionist state of Israel in the last days. Trees in Scripture often represent nations and kings (See Daniel 4:20-22). The UN was formed on June 26, 1945 and passed a resolution on November 29, 1947 to recognize the State of Israel. Therefore, the trees, the United Nations, recognized the Fig Tree, Israel, one of the key prophecies identifying the generation after WWII as the last generation on the earth that will end in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This momentous event is no longer far out into the future, but at hand!

It is simply amazing to me how and why dispensational pretribulationism places so much importance on the Old Covenant in regard to Israel and yet ignore everything written in the New Covenant that proves without question that Jesus Christ and the Church fulfilled the prophecies in regard to the Abrahamic, Mosiac and Palestinian Covenants (there is actually no such thing as a Palestinian Covenant for the word Palestinian is derived from the Romans who renamed the Holy land - Palestine). The secular Zionist nation of Israel is not going to usher in the millennial kingdom of Christ nor head a revived Jewish nation. What it is going to do is submit to the Antichrist and the New World Order resulting in its destruction, and along with it, Rabbinate Judaism. A small remnant of Israelites will survive the tribulation period and accept the Lord Jesus when He returns. They will become part of the physical seed of the Israel of God along with the favored Gentile nations in the millennium, but they will not rule over the Gentiles. The Lord and the Bride of Christ (Saved Jews and Gentiles during the Pentecostal or Church Age) will rule over the nations during the Tabernacle or Kingdom Age.

You must remember that the glorified state of the saints (their resurrected bodies) will be very human not some ghost-like apparition. After Jesus was resurrected, He appeared to the startled disciples in a human body that was able to partake of human food, etc. as well as to move unmolested through physical structures. Our glorified resurrected bodies do not make us inhuman, but possessing the ability to move back and forth between time and eternity. We will be very human in the millennium as well as spiritually eternal. We are going to talk, laugh, run, walk, eat, and even move to other galaxies at the speed of light it that is the Lord's will for us. We are not going to sit around clouds playing holy harps. No, were are going to serve the Lord in His earthly kingdom and carry out His orders in ruling and judging the nations.

Christians spend too much time in the Old Covenant at the expense of the New. "The New Covenant is the foundation for all spiritual life." Because of the New Covenant, our sins are forgiven and we are placed in right relationship to God (the Old Covenant never did that; it was only a temporary era waiting for the coming of the New, which fulfilled the Old). If it were not for the New Covenant, we could not obey or please God. Under the Old Covenant, man could not commune or fellowship with God directly, but had to go through a mediator or a priesthood, but under the New Covenant based upon the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we have direct access to God the Father (Rom. 5:1-2; Eph. 3:12). Without the New Covenant, we would have no confidence or assurance of our salvation, no power to obey the Lord and to act upon His Word, no inward fellowship and no deep awareness of His presence in our lives. The Old Covenant provided only a small glimpse of this.

"The eternal purpose of God is revealed only as the Old Covenant is interpreted by the New Covenant. Watchman Nee, in his article on "Covenant" (The Finest of Wheat, Volume 1) says, "He who is the Lord's must know this New Covenant,  else he or she shall not be able to apprehend God's eternal purpose in His experience. During the time from Adam to Moses, death reigned by sin (Rom. 5: 14, 21), and therefore, God's eternal purpose in Christ (Christ and the New Covenant are synonymous) was not yet revealed. When God preached the gospel to Abraham that in him (old Abe) all the nations would be blessed, not just the Jews, we have a glimpse into the New Covenant Age of grace triumphing over Law, even though God's grace has always been in every epoch or age since the creation of the world (this is why I do not ascribe to dispensationalism for it teaches there is only one period of grace - the so-called Church Age). While the shadow of grace was seen in the Abraham's day, the substance was yet to be revealed. The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). The law never fulfilled God's eternal purpose for the ages, it only played a part (an important part). Jesus said the law and the prophets prophesied until John the Baptist (Matt. 11:13) meaning that the Age of Law, not the dispensation of Law, ended with John (dispensationalism makes God having to act a certain specific way in a given era, for example, during the Age of Law, there was no grace. That is ludicrous as a study of the period from the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai until the coming of Jesus Christ, God's grace seem countless times in dealing with His people).

With the coming of Jesus Christ and the New Covenant, the revelation of God's eternal purpose is clearly seen. By knowing the New Covenant, we understand how the Old must be fulfilled in the New. The book of Hebrews was written to show the Judaizers that Christ is superior to the Law and to Judaism. If we do not understand the New Covenant we will not fully comprehend the substance of our deliverance from sin and the law and will also make the mistake many evangelicals are making in trying to resurrect the Old Covenant in Zionist Israel today. This is the blunder of all blunders by making the New Covenant subservient to the Old when the reverse is true. Evangelical Christians need to get their heads out of Zionist Israel and the Old Covenant and learn to know and live in the New Covenant lest they be duped by the Judeo-Masonic New World Order soon to appear and demand submission to its rule.

Watchmen Nee further says, "If we know...the New Covenant, it can then be said that we have touched the greatest treasure in the universe":

Matthew 13:44 NKJV

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Who is the treasure? It is the redeemed Church of Jesus Christ. What is the field? According to the Parable of the Sower, it is the world. Who is the one who sells all he has and buys that field? It is the Lord Jesus Christ. How does it buy it - with His shed blood? Why does he have to buy the whole world in order to obtain the treasure? Because Satan had legal access to the world by Adam's fall (it is written that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one) so the Lord Jesus had to buy back the world in order to legally satisfy God's justice. This is the meaning of John 3:16, "For God so loved the whole world that He gave His only begotten Son (to buy back the world) that whoever believes on Him shall never perish, but have eternal life. The true Church is hidden from the world, that is, it neither knows us or understands us. The world sees and understands the false religious Church, but not the Church of the redeemed in Christ Jesus. This is why men like Fox's Bill O'Reilly invites clerics on his program (seldom true men of God, usually the liberals) yet fails to understand the new birth or recognizes the Church of the New Covenant.

May God bless you to understand the New Covenant.

Dr. Barber, a Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
