The Correlation of the Four Beasts and the Four Horses of the Apocalypse
Dr. Allen Barber
November 2007

Revelation 4:6-8 KJV

6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Revelation 6:1-8 KJV

1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Notice in Revelation 4 the Four Beasts before the throne of God who are involved with the first four Seals of Revelation 6 are described as resembling a lion, calf, a man, and a flying eagle. These are not to be taken literally, but are representative symbols describing an end-time scenario. By understanding the Four Beasts, we can gain insight into the Four Seals now open in the earth.

The First Beast resembles a lion. What is a lion known for? He is called the “King of the Beasts” and he roars before attacking his prey and announcing his arrival. The Bible says Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. His mouth is his chief weapon, that is, he tries to harass and intimidate his victims by his injecting his thoughts into their minds – thoughts of fear, hate, murder, etc. - anything opposed to the Word of God.

When the first Seal is opened, a rider comes forward on a White Horse to conquer with a false peace. Daniel and Revelation describe the Antichrist as having a “big mouth:”

Daniel 7:8 KJV

8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Revelation 13:2 KJV

2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Revelation 13:6 KJV

6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

The Antichrist will conquer with a false peace and threaten anyone or nation that rejects his authority. Therefore, we see the First Beast announces the arrival of the man with the “big mouth.”  The color white in the case of the First Horse is not a symbol of true peace, but a false peace forced upon the world, that is, as long as you capitulate with the New World Order, there will be a measure of peace, but you must follow the rules or be destroyed.

The Second Beast resembles a calf. What is a calf usually associated with in the Bible – idolatry and false worship:

Exodus 32:4-8 KJV

4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf : and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
7 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf , and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

The Second Beast resembling a calf represents gross idolatry and a perverted religious system that is depicted in the Second Horse whose color is red.  Freemasonry, the Illuminati, and Communism have one thing in common – they are identified by the color red. By their religious doctrine (all three end-time organizations are apostate religions for when political ideology is worshipped as a god, it becomes a religion) they pervert truth. In addition, all three entities have slaughtered millions of people around the world. The Greek meaning of the phrase “great sword” in Revelation 6: 4 actually is not the sword typical of war, but that which is seen in class actions in the murder and killing of civilians. The Red Horse and the Second Beast represent the killing fields of the secret societies to eliminate their opposition. It is part of the mystery of iniquity mentioned in II Thess. 2: 1-7.

The Third Beast looks like the face of a man and is associated with the Third Horse – the Black Horse. What has been the icon of capitalism since its inception- “money?” What one nation’s currency has represented capitalism to the world – the United States and the one-dollar bill? What is on the face of all our “green backs” – the faces of our presidents? Capitalism, the money system and economics are represented by the faces of men and the color of money is black. In addition, we know from Revelation 13:16-18, the Antichrist and the False Prophet shall have control of the end-time monetary system. Unless one has accepted their rule, no one can conduct commerce of any kind. Moreover, Daniel 7:20 says the little horn (Antichrist) has eyes like that of a man and a mouth speaking great things. The Third Beast and the Third Horse are associated with the Antichrist and his government, which controls the purse strings of the world.

Last, the Fourth Beast looks like a “Flying Eagle.” According to the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, the Hebrew and Greek meaning of eagle is a bird of prey – a vulture. What is the primary characteristic of a vulture as opposed to an eagle?  Vultures eat dead carcasses and are associated with the dead. The Rider on the Fourth Horse of the Apocalypse is named “Death” with Hell following him. His color is green. Green is the symbol of Islam and is the culture and religion of death. The world is currently gripped in the jaws of Islamo-facism, which promises death to those who oppose its ideology. Therefore, the Fourth Beast introduces the Islamic hordes that will result in killing over a billion people in the end-time generation – the current period.

This is a brief comparison of the Four Beasts with the Four Horses of Revelation 6 and their correlation provides insight into what is taking place in our day and time.

God bless.
