What Does It Mean To Be Saved

What Is Replacement Theology - Part 1
October 1, 2008
Dr. Allen M. Barber

From the emails I have received, it is rather obvious that many saints do not understand the Bible's position on secular Israel and the Israel of God - the Church and so-called "Replacement Theology."  Evangelical Christians in the pretribulation camp have been fed a diet of old economy Israel that has unfortunately made the state of Israel and the Jews more important than the New Covenant Jesus established with His own blood and death upon the cross. Preachers like John Hagee and Pat Robertson and many others teach a two salvation program, that is, that God is not through with the nation of Israel and has plans to restore the kingdom to them with their temple and blood sacrifices in the land of Israel when Jesus returns. Moreover, they teach that Israel or the Jews do not need to believe the gospel in the New Covenant sense and be grafted into the body of Christ - the Church because they are safe under the Old Covenants - the Mosaic and the Abrahamic Covenants. The meaning is that God has a two salvation program - one for the Jews and one for the Church. That is utter biblical nonsense and heresy of the nth degree. It is also dangerously damning to the Jews to believe they do not need Jesus in the present era of the Church Age (It is actually the Pentecostal Age) and all they need to do is to wait for the tribulation period when God is going to revert back to the old economy of law and then Romans 11: 26-29 will be fulfilled when all Israel will be saved (a remnant).  If that is actually true, then why did the apostle Paul spend a great deal of His ministry trying to convert the Jews to Jesus and why did he say that the gospel must go to the Jews first?  The Church has a mandate from God to preach the gospel to the Jews as well as to the Gentiles.  The problem is the erroneous doctrine of a two-salvation program has made the Church reluctant to evangelize the Jews.

Organizations like AIPAC, ADL, and the ACLU (all Jewish organizations) strongly oppose evangelizing the Jews in the United States. They have convinced our Congress and the rest of the Western world that any criticism of the Jews or the nation of Israel is "anti-Semitism."  The United States Congress passed into law the "Anti-Semitism Bill" that makes it a crime to say anything against the Jewish race while the attack on Christianity continues unabated in this nation. Even a leading Jewish Rabbi in Israel recently remarked that Christians are being persecuted around the globe more than the Jews.

As I mentioned, I receive the usual "hate" email whenever I write that the secular nation of Israel and the Jews are not the chosen people of God, but the Judah Church - the good figs of the Fig Tree are the chosen people of God. I am branded an anti-Semitic?  One lady wrote me that my teaching was dangerous.  On the contrary, it is the truth while her position is like many - completely ignorant of what the Scriptures teach concerning Israel and the Church. The New Covenant makes it abundantly clear that the chosen people are those who have been grafted into the Fig Tree and the spiritual tribe of Judah - the Lord Jesus Christ, which I will have more to say on this as we progress in this series.  The problem with many evangelical Christians is the gullibility to believe most anything that some pretrib theologian or pro-Israel proponent teaches in regard to the Jews as God's sole chosen people.  Let me be very clear on this - God has never had but one elect people in this earth whether Jews or Gentiles and they are those who have believed the promises of God by faith.  At the end of the pre-flood world, God found one man who still had faith in Him - Noah and he and his family were delivered from the flood judgment. Then later, God found another man, Abraham, who could believe in His promises and set him apart to become the father of many nations (note: "many nations") by faith in "the seed" (singular) who was to come from his loins - the Lord Jesus Christ and the true Son of Israel and the Head of the Tribe of Judah. Paul taught this theology to the Churches of Asia Minor when he was an itinerant evangelist:

Galatians 3:16-18 NKJV

16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

The chosen people of God are those who have been planted or grafted by the Father into a spiritual union with Him via faith in the finished work of Jesus upon the cross and the resurrection without which the whole plan of God to save the Jews and the Gentiles would be null and void.  The revelation of God in the Bible is "progressive" never backward.  Why would God send the Lord Jesus to this earth to suffer at the hands of evil men and then die an ignominious shameful death upon a wooden tree outside Jerusalem if He was continuing the old economy of Israel and their religion - Judaism? In fact, you won't find "Judaism" taught in the New Covenant except to expose it as a relic of the past. Judaism was the religion of the Pharisees and Scribes, which is Talmudic Law and afterward they added mystic Kabbalism to it, which completely ruined the revealed Word of God. Jesus confirmed this in his dialogue with the Pharisees:

Matthew 15:3-9 NKJV

3 He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.' 5 But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother," Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God" — 6 then he need not honor his father or mother.' Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 "These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

You need to understand that what Jesus confronted in his first advent was Talmudic Kabbalism - the teaching and tradition of the Pharisees.  The same teaching is taught the Jews today in every synagogue in Israel and the United States. It is blind theology and a lie against the truth of God's Word in both covenants.  Judaism makes their converts twice the child of hell and no Christian should become enamored with the religion of the Jews nor the secular state of Israel as some separate plan of God strictly for the Jews.  God has one plan - to save lost Jews and Gentiles from their sins and bring them into fellowship with Him through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is what the 1970's Christian logo proclaimed - "Only One Way to God" - Jesus Christ!  A Jew outside the Lord Jesus Christ is a lost Jew and will die in his sins and go to hell the same as a lost Gentile. All the Jews are not going to heaven when they die regardless of what some teach.

I have read some bizarre teaching that says God is going to resurrect all the Jews in a special resurrection just for them and grant them salvation. Folks that is heresy and a lie!  God does not have one salvation plan for the Jews and another one for the Gentiles. He has one plan - all humankind, whether Jews or Gentiles must repent and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ - not the message of Judaism,  Allah, Buddha or some Hindu god!  Before the New Covenant era, all the Old Testament saints - those who believed the promises of God by faith (Abraham is the example; also read the Psalms and understand that King David did not place his faith in animal sacrifices but in the mercy and grace of God), were covered by "temporary righteousness" until the righteousness of God entered the world and that was the Lord Jesus:

2 Corinthians 5: 21 NKJV

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Before I proceed further in this article (stay with this series and when done, you will never again be confused about replacement theology), I need to digress for a moment. One of the criticisms I receive whenever I teach this subject, is that I am being a "know-it-all" and in addition, I am not being humble in correcting those who send me all those nasty emails about why my teaching is wrong and dangerous.  If I use such terms as ignorance and gullibility in correcting those who obviously don't have a clue to the truth on this subject, I am accused of being unloving and not humble. Well, you might want to read some things the apostles had to say to the Churches and the Jews:

Romans 10:3 KJV

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

1 Corinthians 14:37-38 KJV

37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 But if any man be ignorant , let him be ignorant .

2 Peter 3:5-6 KJV

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Hebrews 5:1-3 KJV

1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant , and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

Galatians 3:1 NKJV

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

The Greek word for foolish is anoeetoi, which has the implication of an "intellectual moron."  Paul spoke some strong words to the Galatians about reverting back to Judaism when they were set free in the Lord Jesus from religious rituals.  The same thing is taking place today with a large segment of professing Christians.  When I have used this explanation before, my critics remind me that I am not the apostle Paul and that is certainly correct - I am not worthy to untie his shoes, but I have the same Holy Spirit as Paul.

The point is, why is there so much confusion in the Church about the secular nation of Israel and the Jews in relation to the Church - the body of Christ?  For that matter, why is there so many different denominations and doctrines within Christendom? I must be careful here less I get too far off the subject. The brief version is that the Church has little or no revelation today and operates by the doctrine of men?  What do I mean by that"

The answer is to be found by the biblical principle of "first mention," meaning that whenever a doctrine is introduced in the Scriptures, it is the principle by which all other Scriptures pertaining to it must agree to be contextually accurate.  Failure to understand this truth has led to much error in interpreting the Bible.  When Jesus first used the word "Church" in Matthew 16, He gave us the principle for its foundation.  A close examination of the apostles writings in regard to the doctrine of the Church followed this principle - "revelation knowledge:"

Matthew 16:16-19 NKJV

16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

17 Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

What Jesus told Peter should be the axiom that every true man called of God to the ministry should hang his hat on, which is that the truths of God concerning Jesus and the Church is based on the revelation of God via the Holy Spirit, for the Spirit alone imparts truth to the saints. Jesus clearly told us that His Church would be built upon the revealed truth about Him; thus for there to be an authentic New Covenant minister and a ministry, there must "revelation knowledge."  Watchman Nee has the best writing on this subject of anything I have read to date:

When you have received this fundamental revelation you will discover God speaking here and there throughout the Scriptures. Day after day you will receive many fragmentary revelations which you can  use in serving people. This is called the Ministry of the Word (emphasis mine).  Ministry, therefore, is based upon getting a word before God. We have met Christ, and we want to serve the church with the Christ we know (the problem is many ministers do not know Christ - emphasis mine); and for this we need to have revelation each time we serve. Ministry requires our seeing something before God and in freshness presenting this thing to the church. Revelation, we have said is of two kinds: the basic and the detailed, the "once for all" (logos - emphasis mine) and the "time and again" (rhema - emphasis mine). Without having the first, the second is impossible!...These foundational problems must be solved before there is the possibility of our being ministers of God's Word. Revelation after revelation must be continually added (instead of sermon after sermon - emphasis mine); no one revelation can supply unlimited ministry. Each revelation affords ministry for one occasion; each gives one service...Continuous revelation begets continual ministry. (Watchman Nee, The Ministry of the Word, pages 132-133).

Read the book of Acts, which is a history of the apostolic Church, and you will understand everything they did was based upon the revelation knowledge of the apostles and prophets (all of the apostles were prophets, which means they got a Word from God and spoke it to the Church; that is the biblical definition of a prophet, someone who speaks God's word, not his opinion). For example:

Romans 16:25 NKJV

25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith — 27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

1 Corinthians 14:6 NKJV

But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation , by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching?

Gal 1:12-13 NKJV

12 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.
14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, 16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.

To my anti-replacement critics, please read this last passage and understand what Paul said. He was a Pharisee of Pharisees excelling in Judaism more than his contemporaries, but when He met Jesus and received His revelation, he came out of Judaism and began to preach and teach about the "One New Man" and the Israel of God." Contrary to what some teach about Romans 9-11 concerning the doctrine of election, Paul never made a case for the secular unsaved Jews as being the chosen people of God. He simply taught that although God had set aside their nation because of unbelief and rejection of Jesus as the Messiah He has not cast away "individual Jews" as to be forever doomed and damned. No, they are loved for the fathers sake- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and God has included them to be grafted back into the Fig Tree as the good figs of Jeremiah 24 and the good Olive Tree of Romans 11. The Jews have but one path to salvation - faith in the Lord Jesus.

Here is what Jesus told the Pharisees and the common folks who listened to his words:

John 8:23-24 NKJV

23 You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins ; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins ."

Now, do you think 1948 A.D. when Israel became a nation, it somehow changed what Jesus told the Pharisees? Think folks; use your brains - more so your spirit where God places the revelation of His word!  Any Jew who dies without accepting the Lord Jesus Christ shall die in his sin and go to the infernal regions. This is why the Church should be evangelizing the Jews and not all caught up in a tribulation temple, the ashes of the red heifer, the reinstitution of the Sanhedrin, etc. This is all about the old economy of Israel that has been replaced by the New Covenant doctrine of the Lord Jesus and His Church.

I have a bit of alarming truth for all you Zionist Christians who are excited over the Jews watching their red heifers looking for that perfect specimen in order to cleanse the tribulation temple:

Hebrews 9:11-15 NKJV

11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer , sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Open your blind eyes and read by revelation what this passage in Hebrews is saying. Jesus is the fulfillment for the ashes of the red heifer. He is the only one who can cleanse our conscience from dead works of the flesh, which is what Judaism is. Notice, it is those who are called to come out of the first covenant who receive the promise of eternal life.

To sum up this subtopic, the reason we have so many denominations and different doctrines including the confusion of who are the chosen people is that the Church began to be led by men who had no revelation of the Spirit and the Word of God. They began to read and interpret the Word by intellectual flesh in their seminaries and bible colleges, and even in the Churches ministers depended more on the writings and teachings of men than on Holy Spirit revelation. The result has been that the Church has very little revelation today and the ministers Sunday after Sunday feed them on the husks and not the meat.

When I was saved and called to the ministry of the Word on April 25, 1971, at the advice of my Baptist pastor, I immediately enrolled in seminary instead of emulating Paul and allowing the Holy Spirit to personally teach me the Word. Not one time in all of my seminary courses and training, which includes at least two renowned seminaries, did I receive any teaching on the need for revelation knowledge as the foundation of ministry. No, I was taught to consult the commentaries, the Greek and Hebrew study aids, get some illustrations from a book, write out a sermon, memorize it and then go preach it. I tried that for a while and realized that was not for me, but I still did not understand revelation knowledge until the Holy Spirit led me to purchase the book by Watchman Nee that I mentioned previously (I discovered that his book was based on revelation knowledge - what he had received from God).  Being the stubborn person that I am in the flesh, it took God a few years to get me to fully understand the necessity of revelation ministry (Not that God was slow, but me).

One day back in 1982, I received my first lesson in revelation knowledge when God gave me a rhema from Mark 2:22 - the "new wine" is the revelation of Jesus via the eternal Spirit and all of the other truths of the New Covenant and for that matter the whole Bible. The Lord told me to stop relying on man's commentaries and even the Greek and Hebrew word studies without dependence on the Holy Spirit and He would teach me His Word.  While He began to do that and my preaching and teaching took on a new light, I still was slow in developing into a revelation minister.  There would be two other occasions when God would intervene and get me back on track with the revelation of His Word. It was not until He allowed some severe adversity into my life and placed me in a spiritual wilderness for 10 years (1992-2002) that I finally understood the full cycle of revelation knowledge.   Now, that does not mean I am no longer learning, for everyday is a learning experience as I come and sit before the Lord and ask Him to teach me His Word (See Isaiah 50: 4-5), particularly the prophetic Scriptures for the end time. Without the Holy Spirit teaching me the Word, I am what Paul said to the Galatians - an intellectual moron!  God told me in late 2004 to go get the Ph.D (I thought I was too old) and he would use it to open doors for me to minister and it has believe it or not. It doesn't make me any smarter than anyone else, but the Church like the world is impressed more with man's flesh credentials than with "the spirituals." So, don't take me wrong and think I am being puffed up or arrogant when I use the "Dr." before my name.  It is only to reach some who otherwise would not pay attention to my writing and teaching.  As Paul so eloquently said, all that he had achieved in the flesh as a Pharisee was "dung" before the Lord. I know which side I am buttered on and that is the Lord Jesus. Without Him I am "zero" with a capital "Z!"

Now this introduction was necessary for you to understand where I am coming from and why I believe the way I do about replacement theology. I did not receive the revelation of the truth about Israel and the Church from the theologians, but from the Holy Spirit who is the revealer of the Word.

Both positions on replacement theology are wrong - the one that believes a Gentile Church has replaced the promises of God to Abraham and to his seed and the other that teaches God has two plans of salvation - one for the Jews and one for the Gentiles and is in the process of reviving a Jewish kingdom in the land of Israel with a temple and the reinstitution of blood sacrifices; and along with that, the teaching the Jews are the chosen people of God and not the Lord's Church.  I will fully explain why these are incorrect assumptions in future articles, but for  today, this is all I have time for.

I am not going to get in a hurry in this series for it is too important to skirt the issues with generalities.  I tell you this, when I finish, those of you who wrote me those nasty emails and accused me of being anti-Semitic and unloving toward the Jews are going to have to eat your words when you realize the foolishness and ignorance of your comments.

Let's get this straight, I love the Jewish people (I also love the Arab people) enough to tell them the truth about Zionism and Kabbalism and how their own Rabbi's are teaching them lies and not the truth. Do you realize the Talmud teaches that all Gentiles are the scum of the earth and were born of Satan's seed?  Well, they have it half right - all that are born of Adam, and that is all humans, are born with a Satanic nature which causes man to rebel against God's divine law. This is the problem; Satan leads man to obey physical law or religious law instead of divine moral law. The United States of America has replaced divine law with man's laws and can no longer understand divine truth.  Likewise, many in the Church have been fed a steady diet of Pretribulation Zionism that has replaced New Covenant truth with a heretical dispensationalism thereby confusing who are the elect of God.

May God bless you with wisdom in this series of articles.

What is Replacement Theology - Part 2
October 3, 2008
Dr. Allen M. Barber

The following article I wrote some time ago, but it is essential for understanding God's relationship to Israel, the Gentiles and the Church and who today are the chosen people. Therefore, it adds significant light to the truth about replacement theology. This article will be followed by Part 2.

God has a controversy with Zion, which includes both Houses of Israel and the House of Esau; however, few know anything about it. The primary culprit that has caused all the confusion about prophecy regarding Israel and the Church is dispensationalism propagated by the pretribulationists. The Bible does not teach dispensationalism, but three distinct epochs or ages within a progressive revelation setting. Pretribulationism is guilty of dividing God's plan for the ages into two divisions as well as the "elect" into several groups. Up until the late 1700's, the Church (Judah Church, not Catholicism, which perpetuated replacement theology) knew no such division of the Scriptures. As I have mentioned several times, God has always had one elect people in the earth; in the O.T. era, it was the good figs of Israel who were obedient to God; in the N.T. era, the good figs of Israel came out of the old economy of physical Israel and were grafted into the spiritual tribe of Judah, which the Lord Jesus is the head and chief Prince; therefore, the good figs of Israel established the Judah Church (the first converts to the Church were Jews); then as time progressed, the believers among the Gentiles were grafted into the Fig Tree (the Lord Jesus).  Jesus is also the Olive Tree Paul mentions in Romans 11 for He is the light of the world. As a result, the Judah Church, and the same as the One New Man, is composed of saved Jews and Gentiles in Christ Jesus. The good figs of Israel (both Jews and Gentiles who are grafted into Christ by spiritual birth become spiritual Israel or the Israel of God) are the inheritors of the promises to Abraham and are the Bride of Christ who will reign with  Jesus in the coming kingdom.

You won't find this truth in pretribulation books because they have no revelation of it. Scholarship is not revelation!

I hope you will stay with this series on replacement theology for when finished you will understand the truth about Zionist Israel and the Church. What is about to happen in the Middle East with a Palestinian State in the land of Israel is God completing the judgment of both Jacob and Esau's sins. Esau despised his birthright and sold it for a bowl of pottage. He also gave up his dominion rule. Both were serious sins in the eyes of God. Jacob, on the other hand, was guilty of stealing the birthright from Esau by lying to his father Isaac. He also took the dominion mandate from Esau illegally. When Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau before his death, he prophesied that one day Esau would lift the yoke off his neck from his brother Jacob and rule for a season. We are in that season; therefore, the Palestinian State must come to pass, but it will be short lived.

The Jews or the House of Judah conquered the House of Esau in about 126 B.C. and forced Judaism upon them - circumcision and obedience to the Law. Consequently, modern Israel is Esau. The 1925 Jewish Encyclopedia plainly says modern Jewry is Esau. Therefore, for God to complete his judgment upon Jacob and Esau, He must judge both secular states - Israel and Esau.

Very few realize that God is using the United States to create the conditions for his judgment of the Jews and the Palestinians. The thing about the land is not understood. The land of Israel belongs to God as does the whole earth. When the Gentile nations interfere in the land it is a violation of God's real estate not the Jews as they were legally evicted by God who used the Romans as His evictors (See Matthew 22:1-14). The Jews are not back in the land legally, but their presence there is fitting into God's end time plan to destroy the secular Zionist state that rejects Jesus and to save the surviving remnant - more of the good figs. The Parable of the Fig Tree is completely misunderstood by the pretribulationists, and I myself at one time taught the Fig Tree as the fulfillment of prophecy concerning the Abrahamic Covenant (It is the fulfillment of Jeremiah 24 - the bad figs). I regret that I mislead the saints because I based my understanding on "second-hand knowledge," what I read of all the pretribulation so-called scholars. This is what I was trying to share yesterday about revelation knowledge. Such does not come easy, but there is a price to pay to have the revelation of the Word. God is not dispensing revelation to just anybody, only those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Are you one of those who is hungry and thirsty for the Word of God?  If you are, the Holy Spirit will give you the revelation of the Word for He is the author and the one who inspired it ( 2 Tim. 3:16).

THE LORD HAS A CONTROVERSY WITH ZION
Isaiah 34:4-8

The following  article is from Koenig International News website (www.watch.org) regarding the prophetic significance of President Bush’s visit to Israel. It is cast in the typical Traditional Dispensational setting, which may have other prophetic implications than the article implies. The numbers 40 and 11 in biblical numerology (not occult numerology) represent respectively “a period of complete testing” and “judgment in the sense of the breaking down of natural order.” While the author of the article seems to equate Bush as the culprit in dividing the land of Israel, he absolves the leaders and government of Israel. PM Olmert and his predecessor are complicit in implementing the Bush Road Map, and so the “onus” is also on the Israeli state if God is judging anyone or any nation for bringing about a two-nation state within the borders of Israel proper.

I’ve known Bill Koenig for several years and we have traded many emails on a number of prophetic issues. He has written a book, “Eye to Eye,” in which he allegedly proves each time the United States takes some action against the Zionist state or the land of Israel, God slams the U.S. with corresponding judgments, particularly bizarre weather. However, there may be another reason besides American’s own sins that correlate what is happening in Israel and the United States and it is referred to as the “Controversy of Zion.”

Read the article first and then I will offer an opposing commentary:

[Note from Bill:

The following is from Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, Puyallup, Washington. There is an incredible biblical connection to President Bush's arrival date in Israel and a 3400 year old event.

President Bush has come to Israel on a very significant date to divide the land!

If you look at the Hebrew Calendar Tuesday - Wednesday, Jan 8-9, 2008, sunset to sunset, was a New Moon, which is very significant on the biblical calendar. It was the date of Shevat 1. The first day of the 11th month. The New Moon is always sanctified or set apart. But look at the biblical significance of it not only being just the first of any particular month, but what happened on this very day, the first day of the 11th month, 3400 yrs ago:

Deuteronomy 1:3,8 And it happened, in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first of the month, Moses spoke to the sons of Israel according to all that God had commanded him concerning them; Behold, I have set before you the land; go in and possess the land which the LORD has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them.

It just so happens, this is not only just the first day of the eleventh month, but it is also in the fortieth year since Jerusalem was recaptured in 1967!!

Also read Zechariah 1:7-21 concerning January 31st; this year is the 24th day of Shevat.

Zechariah 1:7-21: Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white. Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth. And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest. Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years? And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words. So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem. Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. And the LORD shewed me four carpenters. Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

Read all of Zechariah concerning Jerusalem and the nations.

We know from:

Matthew 5:35 Jerusalem is the city of the Great King. (Yeshua is the Great King of the Jews and Jerusalem.)

2 Chronicles 6:6 But I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name might be there;

then look at:

Zechariah 3:2 The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! …” ].

My Commentary:

For many years I was a devout Christian Zionist and Pretribulationist that believed Israel could do no wrong. In addition, I believed Christians and the United States was biblically obligated to support the Zionist state. In that regard, I had very little sympathy for the plight of the Palestinians. In teaching sessions, I would strongly argue that it did not matter the Palestinians had lived in the land of Israel for millennia; the land belonged to the Jews and whatever means they used to reclaim it were justified.

Then over a ten-year wilderness experience (1992-2002) the Lord opened my eyes to the truth about the Zionist state, the Jews, and the Church. For the first 25 years of my Christian life and ministry, I believed the Jews were God’s earthly chosen people and the Church was God’s chosen heavenly people as if  God could not make up His mind about the elect. That is foolish of course, for God has never had but one elect people in the earth in any dispensation, The elect have always been those who placed absolute faith in the Word of God regarding His promises, whether they involved a physical or spiritual fulfillment. The outward or physical appearance of the elect may have changed somewhat, but the elect has always been the faithful remnant whether Jews or Gentiles.

Christian Zionists who believe secular Israel is God’s chosen people do not understand that God operates on more than one level in dealing with national and personal issues. The national issues involve the nation of Israel as well as the Gentiles. God’s prophetic Word will be fulfilled to the nations and Israel in bringing the rule of godless nations to an end. The same is true of individuals. God will judge individually the citizens of the nations both Jews and Gentiles.  The Old Testament prophets clearly predict both God’s blessings and judgment on the nations including apostate Israel. Paul told us this in Romans Chapter 11 where he contrasts the believing and unbelieving Jews and Gentiles as part of God’s kingdom program or rejected because of unbelief. The most misunderstood passage in the Bible regarding Zionism is Romans 11, which Christian Zionists love to quote as a proof text for “the so-called “chosen people – the Jews.”

Even though I do not agree with some of his theology, there is no better scholar in the field of secular and religious history involving the Jews, Gentiles, and the Church of God than Dr. Stephen Jones. While he has written much about secular and Christian Zionism, his brief article entitled, “Prophecies Fulfilled by the Israeli State,” provide great insight into the topic of our article.

Dr. Jones compares and contrast “legal chosenness" with “actual chosenness" – something few Christian Zionist understand. “Those legally chosen are the ones God holds accountable to bring forth fruits of the Kingdom. Those actually chosen are those who will indeed bring forth the fruits of the Kingdom” (Matt. 21:43). Authority and responsibility work hand-in-hand. Those given the authority by God to carry out His Program for the ages are responsible before God how they handle the authority. God chose Abraham to be a blessing to all families of the earth, not just the Jews (Gen. 12:1-3) and gave him the authority to carry out the plan, but God held Abraham responsible since He was chosen. The biblical record proves Abraham exemplified perfect obedience in obeying God’s decrees and is why He is called the “Father of faith.” How about his descendents; were they equally responsible?  No, they failed miserably in fulfilling the obligations that followed authority. From the time they entered the wilderness wanderings to the present day, the historical record regarding the Israeli state and people is one of disobedience, discipline, and exile. The modern state of Israel continues what their forefathers did – rebel against the Word of God. This is why God placed them in the hands of wicked tyrants and pagan nations for over 3000 years beginning with the Babylonian captivity (if you count the 400 years in Egypt, it is even longer).

Why has God seemingly judged Israel so harshly?  God has both a short-term and a long-term plan to complete His mystery plan of the ages, which involve the prophecies affecting the nation (national) as well as individual Jews who come into the New Covenant by faith. Christian Zionists who do not understand this (most of them) confuse the prophetic Scriptures and blend the two into one making all the Jews God’s chosen people and that is a gross distortion of the Bible.

The Mystery Plan of God involving Israel as well as the Gentiles and the Church begins and proceeds through 3 epoch’s or Ages – the Passover Age, the Pentecostal Age, and the Tabernacle Age. Running concurrently with the history of Israel and the Church is the history of the Gentile nations. While I do not agree with Dr. Jones statement that understanding prophecy starts with history, that is, to properly discern prophecy, we must see it through the eyes of history, I do agree that much of prophecy has been fulfilled, and in that light, the study of history alongside prophecy greatly enhances our understanding. Where I disagree with his historicist position is that it leaves out the revelation of the Holy Spirit to teach us things past, present, and more importantly, the future. If I am solely dependent upon history in order to discern the prophetic Word, then I must wait until the prophecy has been fulfilled to understand it. That is ludicrous when applied to Scriptures not yet fulfilled, for Jesus told us the Holy Spirit would teach us “things to come.” (John 16:13).

Any serious study of prophecy must focus upon the Seven Feasts of Israel, (Actually the Feasts of the Lord), not their past Old Covenant rituals, but their present and future spiritual implications. Christians normally speak of Pentecost in Acts 2 as the first Pentecost, but it was actually the second. When God used Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt to Mount Sinai and gave them the Law, it was on the Day of Pentecost. They left Egypt on Abib 14 (March - April) after observing the first Passover. Therefore, that marked the beginning of the Age of Passover in which God patiently, over an extended period, taught them the importance of a blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. They were accountable to teach it to the Gentiles, but became self-centered, pious, and legalistic, thinking the Covenant was solely theirs. They forgot God’s instruction to Abraham that he would be a blessing to all nations (that obviously was fulfilled in Jesus, but it did not relieve them of the responsibility of being a light to the Gentiles).

When God gave Moses the Law on Mount Sinai, He wanted to write it upon the heart of all Israel, but they were afraid of God and ran like scarred rabbits. Had they obeyed God, He would have poured out His Spirit upon them (albeit in measure). Because they rejected God’s voice via His Law, God had to postpone the original Pentecost until Acts 2. The Passover Age was to prepare the heart of man for the  offering of Jesus as the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  It ended with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. After a transition period of 50 days, the Holy Spirit returned to indwell the hearts of the redeemed both Jews and Gentiles. This was the beginning of the Pentecostal Age or the Age of the Holy Spirit. While the Passover Age involved a physical temple, rituals and keeping of laws, the Pentecostal Age (the present age) involves spiritual temples and a New Covenant. The Pentecostal Age as great as it is, is not the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit for believers still have the sin nature. The Spirit will not be poured out in full measure until the Tabernacle Age when the glorification occurs – when the overcomers receive their new bodies in which no sin nature exist. This is easily proved by studying the Feast of Pentecost. Leviticus 23:1-7 reveals the “firstfruits offering was to be two loaves of bread baked with leaven (yeast), which is a type of sin. Why two loaves?  Both Jews and Gentiles are born in sin and under the Law of sin. Paul taught that in Romans 7 where he understood two laws at work in him – the law of sin and death and the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

The Church Age or Pentecostal Age is one of imperfection and inadequacy of Spirit. This is why we are witnessing so much sin and falling from grace in the modern Church. Many Pentecostal Age believers are still living in the Passover Age in which the flesh dominates. Even the most devoted saint in the Church still sins and sometimes sins in a way that it appears he or she is lost. However, unless we daily yield our spirits, souls, and bodies to the Holy Spirit, we will fail and sin, even big time.

The Pentecostal Age has now lasted for 40 Jubilees (The Jubilee Year was 49 years and 7 months counting from the first sacred month – Abib or March – April on the Gregorian Calendar) or 1969 years and 10 months from 33 A.D., the year Jesus was crucified. 49 x 40 = 1960 years; 7 months x 40 = 280 months divided by 30 days in a prophetic month = 9 years and 10 months; this fits perfectly into my article on the 120-year generation beginning in 1897 and ending in 2017.  1969 years and 10 months starting from 33 A.D. comes to 2002 and in the month of December (the 10th month). The Pentecostal Age ended in 2002 and we are in a transition period (remember there was a 50 day transition between the Passover Age and the Pentecostal Age) until the Tabernacles Age begins at the Second Coming of Jesus. The 8 years and 7 years applies here also (See Bullinger’s book, Numbers in Scripture on the “8 and 7 years or 15 years.” The 8 years (preparation for the New World Order) began in 2002 and ends in 2010; the final 7 years (the New World Order) ends in 2017.

Dr. Jones has a great article on the “Debt Note,” which I do not have time to cover in detail in this article. Basically, it has to do with Adam who sinned in the garden plunging the whole human race into sin and under the penalty of physical and spiritual death. Adam, via his fall, created a debt note that had to be paid before Holy God who cannot overlook sin, for He is both a just and legal God. Satan stole Adam’s birthright and dominion mandate, and for Adam’s race to pay off the debt note, someone had to pay the debt. The debt note did not remain static in the earth, but God passed it to succeeding generations and held each individual and nation accountable according to whom it passed. It was passed to Noah, then to Abraham as God made a covenant with each (the Debt Note always involves covenant) and held them responsible for what they did with it.  Abraham passed the Debt Note to his descendents or I should say God passed it through him, and when his seed came into the land of Canaan, they were responsible for bringing forth fruits of the kingdom, but they failed. The Debt Note can never be paid until someone is found worthy of perfection.  Israel was “chosen by God” to usher in the kingdom by bearing spiritual fruit worthy of a kingdom person (the Sermon on the Mount), and in that sense, they were “the chosen people.” It also involved the coming of the Kinsman-Redeemer via the seed of Abraham, which we know is Christ Jesus who paid the sin debt for all mankind (individuals).

However, the nation of Israel as well as the nations have a Debt Note that must be paid to satisfy God’s demands for legal justice (you don’t hear any teaching on this). Since Israel could not possibly satisfy the Debt Note (the period of the Judges proved that), God devised a way to remove the legality of the Debt Note from them. However, this was not possible without also removing the authority and the responsibility. He did it in a way no human would understand, not even the Prince of Darkness (God is always miles ahead of the devil and he is too stupid to figure it out). God gave disobedient Israel over to the Gentile nations, and in that way, passed the Debt Note temporarily to the Gentiles beginning with the Babylonian captivity. The Gentile powers were “Chosen by God” to temporarily satisfy his legal demands for justice. To put it another way, God sold physical Israel to the Gentiles to serve them for a “season.” The proud arrogant Gentile powers who hated the Jews anyway were more than happy to carry out God’s edit for Israel. What they did not realize was that God also passed the Debt Note to them in order to pay Israel’s debt. If they did not do so, God would eventually judge them. Therefore, God’s plan for the ages has been hidden among the nations and is the reason God allowed them to have authority over Israel for over 3000 thousand years.

Dr. Jones compares what God is doing with the nations and the Jews as “using the vessels of dishonor” (Rom. 9:21; 2 Tim. 2:20) – the wicked Gentile nations – as a hiatus, giving them authority until the “vessels of honor” were ready for the full anointing of the Tabernacle Age (Joel 2:28-30 predicts this). As alluded to, Babylon was the first vessel of dishonor, followed by successive Gentile powers who carried Israel’s Debt Note. Then in 1917, Great Britain received the Debt Note (this is not teaching Herbert Armstrong’s heresy) when General Allenby took the city of Jerusalem. However, Great Britain or any of the other nations do not have the ability to bring forth the perfection required by the Debt Note.

Now the following is very important in understanding God’s Controversy with Zion and who are the chosen people today. God removed the Debt Note from Great Britain on November 29, 1947 (officially May 14, 1948) when the UN passed the Palestinian Resolution and gave it to Israel in order to provide them another opportunity to bring forth fruits worthy of the kingdom (they were actually given a previous opportunity from 33 A.D. to 73 A.D. and again miserably failed to realize what God was doing). It was at this time (1948) many prophecy teachers of the Traditional Dispensational camp leaped for joy thinking God was about to restore the kingdom to Israel. It did not occur to them to read the Book of Law concerning the laws of exile and tribulation. Had they done so, they would have realized the Lord’s Parable of the Fig Tree (Matt. 24: 32) was set in motion, that is, unspiritual fruitless Israel once again appeared in the land of Israel. Contrary to what TD’s believe, the Fig Tree is not a sign of the glory days of Israel, but of tribulation and judgment, even utter destruction with only a small remnant remaining.

There is a book that every Christian Zionist should read (unfortunately it is no longer in print) that tells the real story of secular Israel’s rebirth. Many of her leaders were terrorists themselves, killing their own people to advance the cause of Zionism. Begin, Shamir, Rabin, Sharon, etc. admitted personal terrorism in their memoirs. They sunk the ship in Haifa Harbor with over 200 European Jews who were trying to escape Hitler’s Germany and blamed it on the British in order to obtain world sympathy and help the Zionist cause. Begin blew-up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem and killed 19 of his own countrymen. Israel  assassinated the British Ambassador when they realized he was about to cut a deal with the Palestinians. In his memoirs, Sharon admitted to wiping out an Arab village in which many women and children were killed. The International Criminal Court has indicted Sharon for ethic cleansing of Lebanese Christians during the war with Hezbollah. The Palestinians observed the terrorism of the Israelis and took note. I once interviewed a Palestinian refuge now living in the United States and his account of what the IDF did to his family is grossly immoral. The point is, the Israelis have been just as guilty as the Palestinians in fomenting terrorism in the Middle East, but the Israelis have convinced Christian Zionists and the United States, they are still the Chosen People and deserving of preferential treatment.

In Part II of this article, we will examine in more detail God’s Controversy with Jacob and Esau – “The Controversy of Zion.”

God bless.

Dr. Allen Barber, a Servant of the Lord

P.S. Much credit goes to Dr. Stephen Jones for the background to this article. You can read his articles at www.gods-kingdom.org. Caution: Be careful in reading his articles for he is a historicist and a universalist. However, he has sound revelation in many of his prophetic articles. You have to know when not to throw the baby out with the bath water. After 40 years of Bible study, I know how to recognize truth mixed with error and how to take the good and throw away the bad. However, someone not grounded in the Word of God may not recognize when falsehood is mixed with truth.

What Is Replacement Theology - Part III
October 6, 2008
Dr. Allen M. Barber

As I mentioned in Part 2 of this series on Replacement Theology, understanding the Lord's controversy with Zion is tantamount to knowing how God views the present day Middle East, the Israeli state and the surrounding Arab states, particularly the Palestinians;  more importantly, how the Church fits into all this.  Part II of the Controversy of Zion is a continuation of the last article on Replacement Theology, which I urge you to read with an open mind before you completely reject what I am sharing about this bogus theology.

Many in the Church have accepted this unbiblical concept as the truth without doing any personal study of the Word. They have grabbed onto it because the pretribulation theologians and Zionist have made it a popular theory. Replacement theology is bogus because nothing can replace the Judah Church, which has been in the world since the day of Pentecost. It is the good figs of the Fig Tree that inherit the spiritual and physical blessing of Abraham; however, the kingdom that Jesus sets up when He returns will be much larger than the tiny piece of real estate today called the land of Israel.

When the dust settles on the Great Tribulation; the Battle of Armageddon fought and won by the Lord; and the Day of the Lord is over (the mopping up job), the land of Israel will be largely destroyed as well as the old city of Jerusalem. The Kingdom Age will be a rebuilding process beginning in the Middle East.

I could spent weeks on the Controversy of Zion, but do not have the time and I doubt many of you could stay with it, so I am giving you the brief version.

The Controversy of Zion – Part II
January 30, 2008
By Dr. Allen M. Barber

Isaiah 34:8 KJV

8 For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

In Part I, we showed how God has passed the debt note for sin and disobedience among the nations, which was inherited from Adam who originally had the birthright and dominion over planet earth. We also looked at legal chosenness  and actual chosenness, which is the root of all the confusion over the secular state of Israel and the Jewish race.

Concerning sin, only one person is capable of removing the debt note and that is Jesus. However, among the nations, God chose Israel to bear fruit of righteousness as a light to the Gentiles, but failed miserably. As a consequence, God judged them and passed the debt note to their oppressors, temporarily relieving them of the authority and responsibility. Then for a brief period, God passed it to Great Britain who controlled the land of Palestine.

Beginning in 1917, God began to pass the Debt note back to Israel by Lord Balfour’s (a crypto Jew) declaration to give the Jews a homeland in Palestine. In late 1947, Great Britain released the Debt Note by UN treaty giving Palestine to the Jews and Palestinians. This was immediately followed by the Jews declaring their independence and establishing an independent state called Israel, which is illegal by Torah mandate – the Old Testament Law.

To say that the Israeli state is illegal upsets the majority of evangelical Christians who have no concept of why it is illegal according to the Scriptures nor do they have any understanding of the real history behind the Zionist State – that it a Rothschild creation. God did not create modern Israel, although he allowed it for the purpose of fulfilling a dual prophecy to the House of Israel and the House of Esau.

Though I may sound arrogant, it is not my intent, as I am trying to teach the Church the truth about the end-time involving Israel and the Church, as I was blinded by dispensational theology for 25 years. I had to ask the Lord to forgive me for teaching false doctrine to the saints, not intentionally, but due to denominational ignorance and blindness. If you are one reading this article and you have been led to believe that Zionist Israel is the chosen nation and the Jews are the chosen people, then you are bound by religious tradition as I was for many years. I encourage you to be open-minded and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you the truth about the modern state of Israel.

In order to fully understand God’s controversy with Zion, we must go back and review the Scriptures that define the controversy. Most Christians know the story of Jacob and Esau as recorded in Genesis 27 - the history of the struggle between the descendents of Jacob and Esau (Israelites and Jews and their cousins – the Arabs). How many even know the difference between a Jew and an Israelite, and in addition, who is an Arab? While this is not the topic for our discussion today, may I say that Iraqis, Iranians, and Egyptians are not technically Arabs. They are from the lineage of Ham, but an Iranian will correct you if you refer to him as an Arab. He will quickly tell you he is a Persian. The same with an Egyptian, he does not like to be called an Arab, but an Egyptian. Ishmael’s mother, Hagar (Abraham’s illegitimate wife), was an Egyptian, not an Arab. Put the word “Arab” in your Bible software word studies and the word is not found except one place – Joshua 15:52 and it is the name of a city in Judah.  Arab technically refers to a mixed race of people living in the Arabian Peninsula. Therefore, the Saudi Arabians are Arabs in the true sense of the Word.  In contrast, the Palestinians are a mixed group of people descended from Esau, Ishmael, and the other Hamite nations. The Palestinians have Babylonian, Persian, Egyptian, Jewish, etc. blood in their ancestral bloodline. The concept they are the modern day Philistines is not supported by history. The Philistines were totally wiped out and today do not exist, as were the Jebusites, Hittites, Hivites, etc.

Now getting back to the subject of today’s article; in order to fully understand why modern Israel is an illegal state not recognized by God except to fulfill the prophecy to Jacob and Esau as recorded in Genesis 27:39-41 (that there would come a day when Esau would break Jacob’s yoke from his neck), we need to understand what is involved with the birthright and the dominion mandate. What we are witnessing in the Middle East is the fulfillment of this prophecy with more to come.

As mentioned, Adam was given both the birthright (fruitfulness) and dominion mandate and we see this in Genesis 1:26:

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. KJV

Dominion means to rule. God intended for Adam and his descendents to rule the earth – Adam was to be king over the earth under God’s sovereignty. However, we know the sad story of Adam’s fall into to sin and in so doing, he lost the dominion mandate, which was given to the usurper – Satan. We know this from the Lord’s temptation in Luke 4: 5-8:

5 And he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 "Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours." 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, "It is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.' NASB.

Since Adam's fall, both Jews and Gentiles have tried to rule the earth, but have only brought oppression, violence, suffering and death to mankind.  Adam was originally created in the image of God making his rule a proper form of government, but after he fell into sin, his sin nature became the dominant power. Rulers today are controlled by their sin nature; even Christian rulers often get into pride and fail to be good rulers. This is why Jesus told Pilate that His kingdom was not of this world, for world rulers are under the authority of Satan. The New World Order will be the climax of Satan’s rule on earth as he has tried through many successive human rulers to establish his empire. While Satan hates God’s creation, he is more than willingly to use mankind to regain control of the earth. Stealing the dominion mandate from Adam did not mean he has full reign to do as he pleases. Like Adam, Satan is under the tutelage of God and has restraints. For example, in the battle for Job’s allegiance, Satan was not allowed to kill him.

The divine law of God was not fully understood until given to Moses on Mount Sinai. From Adam to Moses, men lived by oral tradition passed from God to Adam and to Adam’s descendents. When God asked Cain in Genesis 4:4-5 why he was mad at Him for rejecting his offering, the implication is that Cain knew the law of blood sacrifice, but rejected it. The reason God accepted Abel’s offering was because it was a “blood” offering.” Where did Abel get the idea to bring God a blood sacrifice offering – from his father Adam? When Adam sinned, God killed an animal and clothed them to cover their nakedness, which symbolically proved they lost their righteous standing before God no longer having any righteousness of their own (they were not created sinful – the dispensationalists say they were created innocent; no they were created in the image of God who is perfect righteousness). The law then from Adam to Moses was passed orally to the next Generation. By the time of Noah, much like today, the world had forgotten all about God’s Law of a blood sacrifice to cover their sins and became a lawless generation. Their deeds were enormously wicked prompting God to destroy the earth with a flood. The world today has for the most part ignored God’s laws and is living as if there is no God and no judgment to come.

While we normally ascribe the first commandment the worship and adoration of God, it also implies that earthly rulers were to rule under God’s divine laws, not by their own inclinations. They were to rule according to the revelation of God’s Word. King David, though he committed terrible sin, largely ruled the united kingdom of Israel by divine revelation, which is seen in the many Psalms he wrote as well in the historical records – the books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles.

The divine rule for Kings to follow is seen in Deuteronomy 1: 16-17 where God shows Moses how to delegate authority, but in Verse 17, He says, “The judgment is God’s”:

16 "Then I charged your judges at that time, saying, 'Hear the cases between your fellow countrymen, and judge righteously between a man and his fellow countryman, or the alien who is with him. 17 'You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not fear man, for the judgment is God's. NASB.

Rulers are not to be dictators and tyrants and we understand this from the Lord’s discourse to His disciples in Luke 22: 24-30:

24 And there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest. 25 And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.' 26 "But not so with you, but let him who is the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as the servant. 27 "For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table, or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves. 28 "And you are those who have stood by Me in My trials; 29 and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you 30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. NASB.

The dominion mandate involving rulership is to use authority to serve others, which Jesus exemplified in His First Advent. The government of God upon the earth is one of servanthood – to serve others under Gods’ direction. This is why we need a Christian president in this nation. However, our laws have been changed over the years, and as a nation, we no longer follow the divine law, but man’s law. This is why it is difficult for a Christian to be president of the United States as he is surrounded by a secular Congress and a deistic Constitution. Those who rule in God’s sight are those who love and serve others. Adam was to have ruled as a servant under God’s direction. Had he not sinned and rebuked both Satan and his wife for calling God a liar, God would have established the human race under Adam without sin; however, it would appear, in His legal righteousness, that God could have destroyed both Eve and Satan. Then there would have been a second Eve, instead of a second Adam.

This is how the dominion mandate came to be and how it has passed to rulers in successive generations. We know from the Scriptures that God gave the tribe of Judah the dominion mandate from which Messiah would come. By God’s decree, Jesus is the rightful ruler over Israel and the nations:

Genesis 49:8-12 NASB

8 "Judah, your brothers shall praise you;
Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
Your father's sons shall bow down to you.
9 "Judah is a lion's whelp;
From the prey, my son, you have gone up.
He couches, he lies down as a lion,
And as a lion, who dares rouse him up?
10 "The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes,
And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
11 "He ties his foal to the vine,
And his donkey's colt to the choice vine;
He washes his garments in wine,
And his robes in the blood of grapes.
12 "His eyes are dull from wine,
And his teeth white from milk.

Only the tribe of Judah has the dominion mandate – to right to rule. Since Jesus is the both the physical and spiritual head of the tribe of Judah (He was born of the seed of David who was of the tribe of Judah [Mary was descended from David]), the physical tribe became the spiritual tribe and the head of all the tribes. This is why the Church is actually the Judah Church for we are spiritually united to its head – Jesus Christ – the lion of the tribe of Judah. Therefore, the real Israel of God is the One New Man in the earth composed of saved Jews and Gentiles, not that secular thing in Israel. The modern state of Israel, which many Rabbis in Israel today concede, is primarily made up of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin and Levi, not the former ten northern tribes that God destroyed and removed them from the land to intermingle with the Assyrians and eventually the Europeans.

The tribe of Judah does not have the birthright, that was reserved for the tribes of Joseph through Ephraim and Manasseh or the northern ten tribes. Only the tribe of Joseph has the birthright and the right to call itself Israel. In addition, Israel is under the Iron Yoke (Deut. 28:48), which forbids the Jews from returning to the land to establish a nation or kingdom without repentance and acceptance of Jesus as Messiah.

However, this is all fitting into God's plan to complete the judgment upon the House of Jacob–Judah and Esau–Edom. Today modern Israel is a mixture of Jews and Edomites as the House of Esau was conquered by the tribe of Judah and made to conform to Judaism in about 126 B.C:

During the time of the Hasmonean ruler John Hyrcanus, Judea conquered Edom (which the Romans called Idumea) and forced the Edomites to convert to Judaism.

The Edomites were integrated into the Jewish people. (Wikipedia Encyclopedia).

Many mistake the book of Obadiah as a prophecy calling for the destruction of the Palestinians whom they equate with Edom, when it deals with the modern illegal state of Israel - modern Edom. If you think I am all wet, then read what the Jewish Encyclopedia stated in 1925 about the existence of Ashkenazi Jews who represented approximately 90% of world Jewry, with the startling admission that the so-called enemy of the Jews, Esau (also know as Edom, see Genesis 36:1), now actually represents the Jewish race. On page 42, Volume V, it states:

Edom is in modern Jewry.

If the book of Obadiah is about the destruction of the Edomites, then it is also about the destruction of the illegal state of Israel. The only way the Jews will escape the destruction coming upon the House of Jacob-Esau is not to immigrate to the land of Israel. Christian Zionists do not realize that by supporting the illegal state of Israel, they are playing the part of Judas who betrayed Jesus.

God bless you.

Dr. Allen M. Barber

P.S. Giving credit where it is due, for a fuller treatment of this article, go to Dr. Stephen Jones website at www.gods-kingdom.org and order his book on the “Birthright.” It will open your eyes to what is really going on in the Middle East – I  guarantee you. When I read the book, I was amazed at how much history and biblical truth concerning modern Israel I didn’t know.
