I pray many serious seeking believers who want to know the truth about the end-time  will read this book. It is 428 pages of detailed research and commentary about how and why pretribulationism (the belief the Church will be raptured prior to the tribulation period) fails the test of Sola Scriptura.

The book is copyrighted so none of the material can be used for any purpose other than your personal reading and enjoyment without the express authorization of the author.

Have Modern Christians Been Enlightened  or Mislead?

["Left behind" has been a catch phrase in American church culture for more than a decade, but pretribulation beliefs were virtually unheard of before the eighteenth century. Many modern-day believers await the return of the Lord to rapture the Church before a turbulent period, expecting unbelievers to be left behind to suffer the horrors of this seven-year period. This popular belief is promoted from many evangelical pulpits and popularized by books and movies, but does it really line-up with the Bible?

Dr. Barber provides a careful examination of Scripture and a critical analysis of the biblical commentaries that form the basis of the pretribulation rapture belief. Once a pretribulationist himself, he found that his in-depth study of the Bible quickly revealed the errors of this position. With  spiritual, biblical, and intellectual insight, The Day of the Lord: The Key to Understanding End-Time Prophecy challenges the very foundation of pretribulation theology. Dr. Barber stresses the importance of Sola Scriptura as he guides readers through his compelling and convincing argument for a clearer understanding of end-times prophecy - Back cover of my book].

How To Read My Book

For those who have purchased my book or those who are thinking of purchasing it; to get the most benefit from the book, read it as a study manual or guide. It is not a novel or an easy read for the lazy reader who doesn't want to "think" or study. Read the chapters in chronological order and do not skip around or pick only chapters of interest for each chapter builds upon the preceding material.

Read one chapter and pay attention to the Scripture verses. Make sure you understand the precepts before going to the next chapter. Use your Bible to compare Scripture with Scripture. Read the quoted material for it is an essential part of the narrative particularly where I am examining the works of the pretribulation scholars.

Last, read it with an open mind and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you the revelation truth. If you approach it with a biased prejudice mind toward pretribulationism, the Holy Spirit will be unable to show you the errors of that doctrine. If you are able to make it to the end and still cannot accept posttribulationism as enlightened by the Day of the Lord, hold onto it and when the tribulation begins and you realize the Church is still on this earth, you will want to read it again, I guarantee you!

Q&A  Day of the Lord

What is the Day of the Lord?

Is it a literal one-day event or an extended period?

Why is the DOTL the key to all end-time prophecy?

What one thing do the Old Testament prophets, Jesus and the New Testament  apostles have in common about the DOTL?

Why does John 17:15 (the real Lord's prayer) prohibit a pretrib rapture?

Why does 2 Thessalonians 2:1-9 make a pretrib rapture impossible?

How does 2 Thessalonians 2:1-9 prove the DOTL is posttribulational?

What is the day of wrath to which the Church is not appointed?  It is not what you think.

Why John 14:1-3; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; and Revelation 4:1 do not teach a pretrib rapture?

Why the DOTL mandates the Church must go through the entire seven-year tribulation.

Why "the thief in the night" doctrine is without doubt posttrib and not pretrib.

Why the "Left Behind Series of Books" by Tim LaHaye are misleading and unscriptural.

Who are the ones who are "left behind" at the posttrib second coming of Christ?  It is not unbelievers!

Why Isaiah 2: 11, 17 prove the DOTL cannot be pretribulational or the same as the tribulation period.

All of the above are addressed and answered in my new book, so if you want to know the truth about these questions and statements, I encourage you to get a copy of my book. When the tribulation begins and it will soon, believers will need to know the precepts taught about the DOTL.
More Proof For The Posttrib Day of the Lord

If you have not purchased a copy of my new book, "The Day of the Lord, The Key To Understanding End-Time Prophecy", I urge you to get a copy for what I am sharing today is in the book, but in more detail.

When I was called to the ministry of the Word on April 25, 1971, I was asked to preach my first message the following June at the Fielder Road Baptist Church, Arlington, Texas where we were members. Being a new believer and not knowing very much about the Word or how to prepare for sermons (I enrolled in Seminary in January 1972), the Holy Spirit led me to Joel 3:14 which is about the Day of the Lord. Little did I know that 40 years later I would write and publish a book about the Day of the Lord (I actually wrote the manuscript in 2001-2002).

The following passage in Joel is crystal clear that the Day of the Lord, which is the day the Lord shall return and gather the over-coming saints of all ages up to that time as there is another age yet to come before the Eternal Age, is a posttribulation event:

Joel 3:12-17 NASB

12 Let the nations be aroused
And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat,
For there I will sit to judge
All the surrounding nations.
13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.
Come, tread, for the wine press is full;

The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars lose their brightness.
16 And the Lord roars from Zion
And utters His voice from Jerusalem,
And the heavens and the earth tremble.
But the Lord is a refuge for His people
And a stronghold to the sons of Israel.
17 Then you will know that I am the Lord your God,
Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain.
So Jerusalem will be holy,
And strangers will pass through it no more.

The time this passage is fulfilled

Notice the Lord sits in judgment over the nations (KJV says "heathen") when the unbelieving nations that followed the Jewish Antichrist have been summoned by Satan to conquer the Middle East specifically Jerusalem in order to rule the world from there. (See Revelation 16:13). The valley of Jehoshaphat is the same as Armageddon and the plains of Megiddo. (I once stood on Mount Megiddo in May 1982 and viewed the enormous valley where the armies of Antichrist will gather to fight the Lord Jesus when He returns -Satan reads the Bible and has some knowledge of prophecies about him - See Revelation 12:12).

Jesus spoke from this passage (Verse 13) in His Parables (See Matthew 13:36-43; Rev. 14:14-20).

Joel tells us the precise timing for the fulfillment of his prophecy in Verse 14- the Day of the Lord is not "near" until Armageddon, which all prophecy scholars both Pre and Posttrib believe occurs at the end or after the tribulation, not before or in the middle of it.  When all the nations are gathered in the Middle East and surround Jerusalem (remember by this time Satan has been on the earth for 3 1/2 years), it is only then that the Day of the Lord is NEAR. Looks like the pretrib theologians would understand this, but they are blinded by their own attempt to make the Day of the Lord a pretrib event. It is not!

Cosmic Darkness Verse 15

In my book, I give much detail from the Old Testament prophets, the New Testament Apostles and the Lord Jesus that the one common denominator in describing the Day of the Lord is that it begins with cosmic darkness that envelops the entire globe.  Jesus told us in Matthew 24:29-31 this phenomenon occurs AFTER the tribulation not before it or even during it.

The Two Zions

In verse 16, Joel says the Lord roars from the heavenly Zion and His mighty voice is heard in the city of Jerusalem (earthly Mount Zion) in that the heavens and earth tremble. In many Old Testament passages, the voice of the Lord is compared to loud thunder and flashing lightning.  This occurs on the posttrib Day of the Lord and it is at this time that the Israel of God (the born again blood washed Spirit-filled saints of all the ages)  are gathered to the Lord in the clouds above the earth. (See Romans 11:25-29). The believing remnant of Israel that are saved on the Posttrib Day of the Lord are not part of the Israel of God or the Judah Church. They shall be servants that serve the Lord Jesus and His Bride, the Church during the millennium. (See Revelation 3:9).

Note: The Day of the Lord begins with cosmic darkness and during that blackout, the saints are summoned to the presence of the Lord who has descended to the clouds above the earth. This is the first resurrection and the real secret rapture not that thing the Left Behind Books teach. The rest of the day of the Lord is judgment day for Satan, the Antichrist, the False Prophet and those who took the Mark of the Beast. It is also a judgment of fire upon the whole inhabited earth, that is, when the works of man are burned up, the cities are destroyed and the islands vanish.  (See Isaiah 24). The believing remnant of Israel and the Sheep Nations (those nations that protected Christians and Jews during the Great Tribulation) will be supernaturally protected much like Israel was in Egypt when God was sending plagues upon Pharaoh and the Egyptian people.

At the end of the Day of the Lord, which is not a natural earth day (See Zechariah 14), but a time warp, the Lord sets His feet down upon the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and begins His kingdom reign with the ruling saints at His side (See Revelation 19:14; 14:4).

All of this I cover in my new book and much more.

The Lord bless.
