The Foolishness Of Stephen Hawking
Dr. Allen M. Barber

Psalms 14:1-3 NKJV

The fool has said in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
3 They have all turned aside,
They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,
No, not one.

Isaiah 45:5-9 NKJV

I am the LORD, and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me .
I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
That there is none besides Me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other;
7 I form the light and create darkness,
I make peace and create calamity;
I, the LORD, do all these things.'

8 "Rain down, you heavens, from above,
And let the skies pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,
And let righteousness spring up together.
I, the LORD, have created it.

"Woe to him who strives with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!
Shall the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?'

The following article below from Yahoo News reveals the warped mind of puny man who has setup his intellect as a "god" who thinks he knows more than the real God; however, as the Scripture says above, "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God. Because Stephen Hawking has no place in his mind or heart for God that does not make his reasoning true. To believe or teach the vast universe that has purposeful design far above the mind and ability of man to comprehend is the result of spontaneous creation, that is, that one moment in eternity past, the universe just suddenly woke-up and began to create itself, is the height of stupidity and lowest imagination that man can invent; however, this is the evolutionist endeavor to diminish God from the human race. Voltaire said it right, "If there is no God, then it would be necessary for man to create him" and Hawking has done just that - his god is his scientific theory for creation, which he has not credible evidence since he was not around when creation took place.

Hawking, like all atheists would do well to read the book of Job and attempt to answer God's questions to Job beginning in Chapter 38 and ending in Chapter 42 for if they can correctly answer even one question, then it could be said that man is a god like unto the one who created all things.  Here are excerpts from God's dialogue with Job:

Job 38:1-21 NKJV

1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: 2 "Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge? 3 Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. 4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know!Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 "Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb; 9 When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band; 10 When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors; 11 When I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!' 12 "Have you commanded the morning since your days beganAnd caused the dawn to know its place, 13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it? 14 It takes on form like clay under a seal, And stands out like a garment. 15 From the wicked their light is withheld, And the upraised arm is broken. 16 "Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths? 17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death? 18 Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this. 19 "Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place, 20 That you may take it to its territory,That you may know the paths to its home? 21 Do you know it, because you were born then, Or because the number of your days is great?

This one passage alone exposes Hawking's foolishness, a man impaired in both body and mind (Hawking suffers from a debilitating disease that has deformed his physical body since age 20). Notice in Verse 1 God tells Job that his questions in the preceding chapters concerning the sovereignty and justice of God are not only without knowledge, but are the product of a darkened mind. The Hebrew root word for knowledge is Yada, which means first-hand knowledge, that is, knowledge of an event because of being there when it took place. Man is not capable of Yada for only God can be and is Yada. In the present world, believers in Jesus Christ experience a little of Yada in that we know God partially in our spirits having been born-again by the Holy Spirit. Paul said it like this:

1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

Even though we may be Spirit-filled and walk in great anointing, our knowledge of God and the spiritual realm is only partial because we have not yet been glorified - the time when we lose the sin nature and take on eternal spiritual flesh on the Posttrib Day of the Lord, that is, the overcomers. The rest will have to wait until the end of the first 1000 years to receive their spiritual flesh - glorified bodies. On the Day of the Lord, which my new book deals with in great detail, we enter in Yada for the first time for then we shall be like Jesus and know what He knows. The mind of fallen man is not capable of Yada and that is Hawking's problem as well as all atheists - they have no ability to experience Yada - even a glimpse:

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 NKJV

9 But as it is written:

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

The things of God are foolish to Hawking because he is natural - of the earth and of this world, void of the Spirit. I do not feel sorry for him, but I pity him for his darken counsel. The Hebrew meaning of "darken counsel" comes from a root word that can be interchanged with Satanic darkness or blindness where Satan rules - himself being a fallen creature and the angel of darkness:

Colossians 1:11-14 NLT

11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who live in the light. 13 For he has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom of darkness , and he has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. 14 God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins.

Ephesians 6:10-13 NKJV

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Like the spiritual realm where God exists and rules, Satan also has a kingdom that operates in the supernatural realm with a wicked chain of command - fallen angels (demons). There are power demons, territorial demons (Daniel 10:20), ancestral demons, etc. that carry out the desires of the king of the bottomless pit - Satan. Satan is not omnipresent like God so he relies on a network of demons under his command to keep him informed of events on the earth as well as in the second heaven. From many years of counseling with both the lost and the saved and having witnessed first-hand demonic invasion in the souls of men, I am convinced that Satan assigns demons to those who are serious about serving and worshiping God in the Spirit. For what purpose? To harass, intimidate, disrupt, and if possible to destroy the testimony and even the life of the saints. Satan can also inflict sickness and disease, but not without permission from God for the spiritual saints. The carnal Christian who lives in daily disobedience has placed himself or herself under the law which is the curse;  therefore, Satan can inflict them at will and does.

The book of Job begins with a dialogue between God and Satan whereby Satan is jealous of God's blessings upon Job. He accuses God of placing a hedge around Job preventing Satan from touching him. To prove Job's integrity, God allows Satan to have Job for a season, but not take his life. What does Satan do? He places a disease of sores upon Job's body and takes the life of Job's ten children. This seems unjust, but as God tells us in Isaiah 55, His ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts.  Though Job never cursed God as his wife recommended, during the conversation with his three friends, Job questioned God's justice - the right to do as He pleases without asking man's permission. In essence, Job set about to establish his own righteousness although his three friends told him his misfortune was due to a lack of it, that is, he was guilty of some sin. Job was guilty of the sin of fear which allowed the Devil to attack him for it is written in the Book of Proverbs that a curse does not come without a cause. (Proverbs 26:2).

What was Job's sin of fear?

Job 3:24-26 NKJV

24 For my sighing comes before I eat,
And my groanings pour out like water.
25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me,
And what I dreaded has happened to me.
26 I am not at ease, nor am I quiet;
I have no rest, for trouble comes."

Job's fear was something more than normal, it was demonic. He allowed Satan to place great fear in him regarding his children, so much so that each morning he will offer a sacrifice for his children because he feared something bad would happen to them and it did. The fear was the ground that allowed Satan to attack Job:

Job 1:4-5 NKJV

4 And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did regularly.

Instead of trusting God for his children, Job got into demonic fear that allowed Satan to destroy his children as well as his health. There is a lesson here for all Christian parents. While we pray for our children daily, we must not get into fear about them. We must learn to trust God fully for their lives 24/7. Does that mean bad things will never happen to them? No, but whatever happens, we trust God for the outcome. We sometimes are so earth bound that we are unwilling to accept God's eternal purpose for us and our children. Why did my mother die the very day I was born? She had just turned 35 years of age with two children - my older brother and sister. I never knew her and she never knew me. As a result of her death, I have lived with a big hole in my life by not knowing a mother's love and care. In addition, I was raised by my paternal grandparents until age 11 when I went to live with my father who had four children my his second wife who also had a child; therefore, we were a dysfunctional family. Why was I placed in that kind of environment?  I don't know except that God knows the end from the beginning. He had a purpose in all of it that will not been known until the eternal state.

Well, let's get back to the passage in addressing Hawking's atheism.

In verse 4 God asks Job where he was when God laid the foundations of the earth and if he (Job) had any knowledge or understanding how God created the earth? Of course the answer is he did not have a clue for he did not even exist and if he had been, as a man he would not have fully understood how God could say, "Let there be" and things began to come to life that did not exist.

Hawking makes a foolish statement that because of "the law of gravity, spontaneous creation" was allowed to occur out of nothing. Well, where did the law of gravity come from? God tells us in Verses 8-11 in describing the waves of the sea that stop at the beach and go no further. God set a limit or a law for the sea that its waves could not go beyond the beach. We see this law temporarily set aside during a Tsunami, but as soon as  the tumult passes, the sea recedes back to its former position. This is all according to God's laws of creation. In all of Hawking's scientific theories, he cannot explain how the great seas stop at the beach except that God placed a law there that prohibits the seas from inundating the land.

In verse 12 God asks Job if he can command the morning and the dawn to appear, meaning that God alone has power of the days and nights. Day and night take place every 12 hours making-up a single 24-hour day according to the law of theocratic creation not spontaneous combustion:

Genesis 1:14-19 NKJV

14 Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day. (Notice that earth days were not created until the fourth day of creation while the light was separated from the darkness on the first day of creation. I cover this in my new book on prophecy; there is a hidden truth here that most miss regarding the fall of Satan and the re-creation of the original creation).

Can Stephen Hawking command the the cycle of days and nights to commence or to end? Certainly not; he has no power over his life to prevent his own death, which proves his vulnerability as a fallen human being and in full dependence upon a higher power whom we know as the creator God - the Elohim of the universe. Hawking also tries to discredit theocratic creation with another weak theory - that since other suns with planets have been discovered that are larger than our own galaxy, that proves no God created earth or even mankind making earth with its human existence of no particular importance. What does God say about that?

Isaiah 45:18 NKJV

18 For thus says the LORD,
Who created the heavens,
Who is God,
Who formed the earth and made it,
Who has established it,
Who did not create it in vain,
Who formed it to be inhabited :
"I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Of all the vast limitless universe, God created one planet - the earth to be the home of the human race. While modern science continues to spend billions on research to prove there is human life on other planets, they have yet to do so.  Why does atheistic science yearn to find human life on other planets?  If such were to exist, then the evolutionist would have evidence to prove his case that human life is not the product of theocratic creation, but by the happenstance of primordial evolution. The evolutionist has one primary motivating ambition - to prove that the God of heaven and of the Bible does not exist. This is Hawking's over-riding impulse - to prove from flawed science and the thinking of his own mind that God does not exist. If God does not exist, then mankind is free to do as he pleases since their will be no accountability when man dies or even when he lives. This kind of thinking lowers man to his basest of nature and on a plane lower than the animals (See Job 38:41 - even the animals depend on God for food).

In Job 38:17 above God plays to Job's human depravity by asking him if the gates of death have been revealed to him.  While the primary Hebrew meaning for gates is an opening or an entrance, the secondary meaning is a position of authority or power. The elders sat at the gates of the city, which was a symbol of authority:

Proverbs 31:23 KJV

23 Her husband is known in the gates , when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

Therefore, God asked Job a rhetorical question with the obvious answer - No!  Could Job have authority over his own death so as to prevent it, for if perhaps he understand the gateway to death as well as the long shadow of death that precedes the threat of death, he could prevent it.  With that question, Job knew full well his human frailty - that like all men before and after him, he had an appointment with death. As mentioned, Hawking is in the same boat with Job and the human race - "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God"; "For my one man, Adam, sin came and entered the whole human race and death came by sin." (Romans 3:23; 5:12). No matter of Hawking's so-called intellectual brilliance, when it comes his time to die, he will surely do so and then he will face the God whom he thinks does not exist.  You talk about shock and awe - the atheist will be the most surprised and shocked human being in the universe when he looks into the face of Almighty God - his judge at the Great White Throne. He will be speechless as the angels take him and throw him into the Lake of Fire where there is perpetual torment and weeping and gnashing of teeth:

Matthew 13:37-43 NKJV

37 He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.  38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.  39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.  40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.  41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,  42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.  43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Finally, in Job 38:21, God asked Job if he was born or alive at the time of creation and had lived from that time to his present age, which would have made him several millenniums old. The meaning is that if Job had been around on the day of creation, he would have experiential knowledge of how God - the Yada - created the universe, but since he was not around then, his knowledge of God's creative power and authority was vastly limited.

Hawking is without Yada and has no expert or experiential knowledge of God's existence or power to create the limitless universe. The fact that the universe is wearing out is predicted in the Bible for God says he will make new heavens and a new earth for the old one will need new clothes:

2 Peter 3:10-13 NKJV

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.   11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Psalms 102:25-28 NKJV

25 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 They will perish, but You will endure;
Yes, they will all grow old like a garment ;
Like a cloak You will change them,
And they will be changed.
27 But You are the same,
And Your years will have no end.
28 The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You."

There is much more I could say in regard to Hawking's atheism, but this is all I have time for today. Do not let the atheists or the unbelievers cause you to doubt God or His Word. In time, all the unbelievers will be judged for their unbelief.  Pray for those whom God has given you prayer burden that they may have a change of heart. If you don't have prayer burden, then you are wasting your time. Let God tell you who to pray for and who not to pray for (Jeremiah 7:16; 11:14;14:11).

God bless.

God did not create the universe, says Hawking

LONDON (Reuters) – God did not create the universe and the "Big Bang" was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book.

In "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper which published extracts on Thursday.

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes.

"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going."

Hawking, 68, who won global recognition with his 1988 book "A Brief History of Time," an account of the origins of the universe, is renowned for his work on black holes, cosmology and quantum gravity.

Since 1974, the scientist has worked on marrying the two cornerstones of modern physics -- Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, which concerns gravity and large-scale phenomena, and quantum theory, which covers subatomic particles.

His latest comments suggest he has broken away from previous views he has expressed on religion. Previously, he wrote that the laws of physics meant it was simply not necessary to believe that God had intervened in the Big Bang.

He wrote in A Brief History ... "If we discover a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason -- for then we should know the mind of God."

In his latest book, he said the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting another star other than the Sun helped deconstruct the view of the father of physics Isaac Newton that the universe could not have arisen out of chaos but was created by God.

"That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions -- the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass, far less remarkable, and far less compelling evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings," he writes.

Hawking, who is only able to speak through a computer-generated voice synthesizer, has a neuro muscular dystrophy that has progressed over the years and left him almost completely paralyzed.

He began suffering the disease in his early 20s but went on to establish himself as one of the world's leading scientific authorities, and has also made guest appearances in "Star Trek" and the cartoons "Futurama" and "The Simpsons."

Last year he announced he was stepping down as Cambridge University's Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, a position once held by Newton and one he had held since 1979.

"The Grand Design" is due to go on sale next week.
