America Which Do You Choose - The Blessing Or The Curse?

Scripture For Today

Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 15 NASB

1 “Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you  obey the Lord your God: (Read the blessings Verses 3-14).

15 “But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: (Read the curses Verses 16-68).

In the gospel accounts, Jesus referenced the Book of Deuteronomy (one of the five books of the law) more than any other Old Testament book.  It is the only one He uses against the devil in the temptation. Some say Deuteronomy is similar to the gospels in that both the grace and law of God are seen.

In Chapter 28 God through Moses is giving the rebellious stiff-necked Israelites a choice to either obey the commandments of God and reap abundant blessings or disobey the commandments and reap manifold curses.  Notice that while the blessings cover 12 verses, the curses span 53 verses.

In Chapter 30 Verses 15 and 19 Moses tells the Hebrews to choose life or deaththe blessings or the cursebut to choose life that both they and their children may live:

Deuteronomy 30:15,19 KJV

15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and deathblessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Unfortunately, in spite of God's abundant blessings upon the nation of Israel, they repeatedly rebelled against the Lord God until the Lord's anger was roused up against them resulting in the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem twice, first by Babylon and second by Rome. In addition, as promised in Deuteronomy 28:48, God placed ancient Israel in the Iron Yoke (Note: The Iron Yoke differs from the Wooden Yoke in that the former meant expulsion from the land and scattering among the nations while Wooden Yoke allowed Israel to remain in the land while in captivity).

Today Israel is still in the Iron Yoke even though they defied the law of God and established a nation in 1948 calling it Israel. The only way they could get out of the Iron Yoke was to repent and accept Yeshua Jesus as Messiah and God. In addition, only the tribes of Jacob-Joseph (10 lost tribes) could have the name of Israel because the birthright was transferred to Joseph - Ephraim (his son). The current nation of Israel is both spiritually and physically in rebellion to the Law of God and will eventually submit to and worship the Antichrist, that is, 2/3 will whom God refers to as rebels and will destroy them. A remnant (1/3) will believe in and accept Jesus as the Messiah, which He is.

The United States is much like Israel of old in that we have been abundantly blessed more than any nation on the earth in the modern era, yet we have in these last days turned our back on the Lord and are treating His blessings as a trivial thing. Civility and love for one another and submission to human authority, which God has established has been replaced with anger, hate, violence, murder and mental sickness.  Law and order is no longer respected by those on the left and trumped-up (no pun intended) lies and fake news rule among the liberal media.  The office of president is less respected by the democratic left than at anytime in the history of our nation. To say you respect the office of president but not President Trump is nonsense for they are one and the same. There is no "real" office of President until a president is sitting in the Oval office and administering the duties of that office. That would be like saying I respect our military, but I despise those who wear the uniforms and fight our wars.  I think that was the attitude of many during the Vietnam era.

If America does not soon fall on its face before the Lord God and repent of our national and personal sins, then all the blessings bestowed upon us by the Lord can quickly turn to curses of diverse situations.  Actually, I think we are already experiencing the curses of Deuteronomy 28 we just don't know it. We are turning against each other - left against right, non-Christians against Christians, liberals against conservatives, democrats against republicans and it is leading straight to anarchy and the fall of this nation.

Jesus Christ warned that a nation divided against itself CANNOT STAND!

So what are we going to do, choose life and blessings or the curse and death - the ONUS is on us and time is running out!
